About GVS

Government Veterinary Surgeons (GVS) is a network of government vets working across the various government departments and agencies, which employ veterinary surgeons including the devolved administrations in Britain.

All Government vets are automatically members of the GVS network.

Periodically the aims of the GVS and what is seeks to deliver is reviewed. We are in a period of review and this means that the objectives and our structure will be altered to reflect these.  As this new structure becomes clearer, and the work of the GVS develops it will be reflected within our web pages.

GVS steering group

This group is made up of senior veterinary managers from across government to give collective governance and leadership for all the other GVS working groups and activities.

The Steering Group meets twice a year. The Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO), in his role as Head of Profession, chairs this steering group, supported by the secretariat.
