Setting up the GDS

In 2003 the government recognised the need for decontamination planning and commissioned a study to consider options.  Discussions were held across government and with key stakeholders, and a consultation was arranged.

A decision was made to set up the GDS. Links to ministerial statements on the GDS are below.
