Notice to growers
Defra produces an annual guide for UK producers on the rules of both the UK Quality Wine Scheme and the UK Regional Wine Scheme. For further details see UK wine industry web page. This document is called the ‘Notice to growers’ and is designed as a guide to EU and UK legislation in relation to the production of quality wine and table wine with a geographical indication i.e. for the UK this is called ‘regional wine’. The guide is produced in consultation with the United Kingdom Vineyards Association (UKVA) and the Wine Standards Branch of the Food Standards Agency.
