Food Chain Programme: Road map
Food and drink are known to have a significant environmental impact. All lifecycle stages of products eg: raw material acquisition, production, use and end of life create environmental impacts. The development of a methodology will allow the food sector to focus on potential emission reductions within the food chain, for example, refrigeration or waste in certain products or ranges.
A product or service roadmap is a tool to better understand the impacts of a particular product, and to then understand ways in which those impacts can be mitigated. Priority areas already identified by Defra in developing roadmaps are Milk and Fish, and progress is been closely monitored by the Food Chain Programme.
