This study, carried out for Defra, focuses on phosphorus and nitrogen and looks at the likely scale of changes to agriculture needed to achieve 'good ecological status' required by the Water Framework Directive.

This report, produced as part of the third consultation on the Water Framework Directive, provides details and illustrative costs of the farm practice changes likely to be needed to meet the requirements of the Directive in the arable, sheep and dairy sectors in England and Wales.
