Milk and milk products: Dairy Supply Chain Forum (DSCF) taskforces

The structure of the Dairy Supply Chain Forum was altered in 2006 - replacing the sub-groups with the following taskforce. The taskforce meets regularly, and reports back to the main forum at its plenary session:

Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Taskforce

The Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) Taskforce is chaired by DairyCo and draws membership from all parts of the supply chain (going beyond the farming, processing and retailing sectors) to include inputs to farming and consumers. For a list of members of the Dairy Supply Chain Forum and its Taskforces please contact the Forum Secretariat at dairy.forum@defra.gsi.gov.uk

Milk Roadmap

As part of the Food Chain Programme, Defra and the SCP Taskforce have developed a ‘roadmap’ for liquid milk. Roadmaps use life cycle analysis to complete a 'cradle to grave' picture of the environmental impacts for a product and highlight areas where efforts can effectively be concentrated to reduce those impacts.

The Milk Roadmap (published May 2008) is a living document which will be revisited regularly to ensure that the targets and evidence remain relevant. The Taskforce have met in plenary session twice since its publication, to review progress on the targets.

A ‘One Year On’ Report, summarising the achievements so far has been produced by the Taskforce is available below.
