Food
Defra is working towards a sustainable, secure and healthy food supply and leads in Whitehall on food policy. Within an open and competitive market for food and agricultural commodities, we are working across government to ensure fair prices, choice and access to food, as well as continuous improvement in food safety, changes to deliver healthier diets and a more environmentally sustainable food chain.
Secure and sustainable food
Key policy launched on secure and sustainable food on 10th August 2009.
