Environmental impact of food
Evidence shows that food and drink, along with private transport and housing, is one of the areas with the highest impact on climate change for the average household. This occurs directly, through things like personal transport, heating, lighting and use of appliances and indirectly through the consumption of other goods and services including food. Defra's work on what individuals can do to make a difference in the fight against climate change includes looking at a number of behaviours -- one of which is what and how we eat.
