“Herd Health planning is a series of practical recommendations based upon an active and ongoing partnership between farmer and veterinary surgeon. The process seeks to maximise the effectiveness and profitable contribution of the veterinary involvement on the farm.”

The XLVet Beef Health Planning project will be led by Keith Cutler from the Endell Veterinary Group a member of XL Vet UK Ltd and it is partnered by 6 other XLVet members. It is further supported by 10 other veterinary practices and a number of farming organisations, including the NFU SE Region, The West Sussex Grassland Society, The Hampshire Grassland Society and The National Beef Association will support and promote the project to their members. The project will work upon the strategy of problem based learning delivered on 8 Champion farms. These farms will be monitored to track the cost: benefit equation associated with the intervention action plans that result from the planning process and act as a forum for farm walks and stakeholder meetings.
