Introduction to Positive Animal Health, an Action Plan for a Partnership Approach
Positive Animal Health Action Plan
The Action Plan
(48 KB) sets out the activities we are carrying out in partnership to
help the livestock industry in using farm health planning consistently
and in the best way suited for individual needs.
This Action Plan also takes forward some key initiatives set out in the Animal Health and Welfare Strategy for Great Britain. The broad aims of this Action Plan are to:
- Promote high standards of animal health and welfare through farm health
planning;
- Establish a closer partnership between all interested parties to
encourage shared ownership for disease prevention and control;
- Foster a culture of good practice by those involved with the care, health and welfare of farm-reared animals.
The Action Plan has been developed in consultation with the livestock industry; it is a living document and we are pleased to receive comments on it.
We are looking at good practice in farm health planning, comparing the costs of preventing and controlling disease with the associated benefits, and to help provide useful and practical guidance for the livestock sectors.
