Agricultural Wages Board
Working Parties
From time to time the Board establishes Working Parties to examine issues raised by Board Members during the course of the annual negotiations. Meetings of the Working Parties are generally more informal than full Board meetings. In order to better inform their conclusions they may decide to hear evidence from external organisations or individuals. However, these Working Parties have no decision making powers but can make recommendations to the full Board. This is usually done by means of a formal report to the Board.
The Board has established four Working Parties:
In addition it may, from time to time, establish sub-groups to examine technical issues raised by the Working Parties.
Working party reports
When the various Working Parties have come to a view concerning the issues under their particular remit they prepare reports which are subsequently presented to a meeting of the full Board. This takes place usually in early spring. The Board considers the recommendations of the various reports and decides whether to adopt them or not. If it agrees to adopt the recommendations then the recommendations may form part of the proposals for the new Order or they may be used to inform the subsequent work of the Working Parties.
