  Report produced by Food Links United Kingdom (FLUK) to inform and stimulate public sector buyers and others directly involved in implementing the Public Sector Food Procurement Initiative. It aims to promote more innovative procurement and supply drawing on existing best practice.
• Sustainability of the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme - Summer 2007 (PDF 120 KB)
  Report showing progress made by this scheme in helping to raise the consumption of fruit and vegetables among pupils and its performance against PSFPI principles.

• Lincolnshire School Food Guide (PDF)
  The guide provides advice to schools, caterers and others on promoting and implementing healthier school meals in Lincolnshire. Additional and future resources can be found on the website www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/sfs
• Leicestershire School Food Project Report (PowerPoint)
  The report looks at creative ways to get local food into schools through the development of local food supply chains.

London

North East

• Supplier Capacity Study (PDF 170 KB) - completed March 2006
  This study assesses the capacity of food suppliers in the NE to supply the public sector. The contract also involved the development of a supplier database to hold information of suppliers who are willing and able to supply the public sector.
• Transforming School Meals - Linking Policy and Practice
  This is a report of an event held in Newcastle on 10 February 2006 by a partnership of Government Office for the North East, National Healthy Schools Programme and North East Land Links to consider how to integrate the different strands of policy on school food into effective practice

• Increasing efficiency from grower to eater - A report published by Shropshire County Council in July 2006 of an efficiency review undertaken into their current methods of food procurement and covers, for example, problems faced by small producers in doing business with a large public body.
• Report on linking producers with public sector buyers in Herefordshire and Sandwell - with introduction (PDF 20 KB)
• Report into a supply chain model for providing local food into schools in West Midlands - with introduction (PDF 20 KB)
• Sustainable Supply chains - making it work in Shropshire and Worcestershire (New regional pilot) (PDF 40 KB) on Farming and Food in the West Midlands website

Yorkshire & Humberside

• Yorkshire and the Humber report on developing the supply of milk and milk products into the public sector (PDF 859 KB)
  Key aims of the study funded by Defra were to: establish the potential market for milk and milk based drinks in schools under the new food standards; identify the regional milk producers and processors that have the capacity to supply milk and milk products produced to the required standard; establish supply chain models for supplying the milk and milk products into the public sector; identify the possibilities for milk producer processors to work collectively to bid for a public procurement contract; and establish the potential to replace milk powder with liquid milk.
  

• Yorkshire and the Humber - Public Sector Food Procurement: reconnecting the red meat supply chain (PDF)
  The study looks at the opportunities to link red meat production and processing to public procurement and food service buyers needs, where high levels of imported meat were used due to ‘lack of appropriate local supply’.

• Food and Drink in Yorkshire and the Humber: Regional Supply Chains Mapping Study
  This Yorkshire Forward-ADAS report looks at the people and institutions involved in public procurement supply chains and measures the environmental impact of distribution in terms of carbon dioxide emissions and makes recommendations for improved practice.
