Champions' Group: Corporate social responsibility
The Action Point in FISS, which can be found on page 29 of the strategy document (see also below), is to develop the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda and encourage companies to recognise and accept commitments over and above their minimum legal obligations to enhance their social and environmental performance.
An existing Business in the Community group, ‘Plough to Plate’, under the Chairmanship of Paul Kelly of the Compass Group, was chosen as the means to address the corporate social responsibility action point. The 'Plough to Plate' group looked at how businesses might work together to help the sector address the key priorities.

Key FISS Action point (p29)
The challenge is to devise a set of CSR criteria for the food industry which reflects the contribution that it is best placed to make and ways of measuring progress. Industry to report by winter 2006
