State aid
State aid is using money from Government resources to give businesses an advantage over their competitors. This section of our website is aimed at administrators within Government Departments and agencies, local authorities and other Government bodies who are considering paying out state aid in the agriculture sector. State aids must comply with rules agreed by the European Union, and these pages are designed to help administrators get cover under those rules. The first step is to answer some initial questions to see if your scheme is state aid and if so what type of state aid cover is required.
State aid is a complicated issue. If you cannot find the answer to your question on these pages or need specific advice, contact us or the relevant devolved administration.
