Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2006
Since 2 October 2006, Natural England has been responsible for administering the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2006. The new Regulations:
-
replace the previous rules and protect uncultivated and semi-natural land from damage caused by intensification of farming activities;
-
introduce EU-based rules which guard against environmental damage caused by large-scale restructuring of rural land (e.g. major addition or removal of field boundaries).
All enquiries concerning the regulations should be directed to Natural England at the contact details shown below.

Public Register
Paragraph 8(4)(b) of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Agriculture) (England) (No.2) Regulations 2006 requires that Natural England must enter screening decisions in a register, to which the public must have access at all reasonable times. In order to meet this requirement, Natural England has made the Public Register available online for public access.
This register will be updated regularly and each revised version will clearly display the date of last modification. Any queries about the register should be directed to the EIA Unit of Natural England.
