Applying for research funding
Defra lets a large number of research projects every year. We do this in a number of ways, including through competitions advertised on this site, either for individual projects or in the form of multiple project research requirements documents; non-competitive arrangements, mainly at our science Agencies and other major contractors where we need to maintain certain expertise and facilities; and in partnership with others, such as through LINK programmes.
If you are interested in receiving information on our research competitions, we provide an e-mail prompt service to notify contractors as new competitions are advertised on this site.
To ensure fairness and efficiency in the way we operate, we use standard R&D contract terms and conditions for all projects.
We also use a series of standard forms to capture information on project proposals during the procurement process and in managing our projects thereafter.
