  • How at regional level to bring together a wide range of interests to analyse the measures required to provide an integrated approach to the environment and the rural economy and draw up an appropriate mix of proposals.
  • The type of measures that could be used to promote sustainable rural development integrated with environmental conservation.
  • How a single application process for an integrated scheme would work.
  • Whether such a scheme is popular with applicants and provides benefits which are value for money.

The report details case studies from the pilot areas, the perspectives of the different organisations involved and the emerging lessons learnt from the experiment. Printed copies of the report on the Upland Experiment can be obtained from leila.ridgeway@defra.gsi.gov.uk.
