[Your address]

Dear [name]

HIGHER LEVEL STEWARDSHIP:
FARM ENVIRONMENT PLAN CONSULTATION

I am carrying out a Farm Environment Plan for:

Farm name:

Farm address:

Farm CPH:

For your information, the ownership of all or part of the holding is known to be:

The National Trust Yes No
Defence Estates Yes No

As part of the FEP process I am required to consult with the local Historic Environment Record.

I would appreciate your comments on the historic environment represented on this holding. I enclose a map/s at 1:10,000 scale or larger showing the holding boundary, field numbers (where available) and a six figure grid reference for the farm. I have also enclosed a copy of the ELS agreement map and/or FER map where there is an existing ELS agreement on the holding and brief details of any land management agreements that are known to exist on the holding. [Delete as appropriate: I have identified the limit of any areas of National Trust or Defence Estates land on the enclosed holding boundary map.]

In particular please would you provide brief details on the following:

  • Identification of any nationally designated or registered historic environment sites or features on the holding. Please include any citation description, maplet or other information relevant to the FEP process wherever possible.
  • Identification of any other known historic environment features where there may be land management implications e.g. traditional farm buildings, parklands, earthworks, crop mark sites, but not isolated find spots or sites only known about from documentary sources, etc:
    1. Non designated above- and below-ground archaeological sites and monuments;
    2. all non domestic historic buildings;
    3. and designed or historic landscapes of more regional or local importance on the holding.
  • Identification of any existing land management agreements on the holding known to the authority.
  • Comments on the historic landscape character setting of this holding and any potential management considerations that this raises. Please include details of the Historic Landscape Characterisation (HLC) or other information relevant to agri-environment schemes for this area, if available.
  • Advice on the relative importance of each feature with priorities for management. Please also include comments on any potential management recommendations possible under Environmental Stewardship.
  • Any other information relevant to this FEP.

I would be grateful for return of your response within 15 working days from receipt of this letter.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your advice.

Yours sincerely
