6.2 Description and Effects of Other Measures
6.2.1 Paragraphs 6.1.2 and 6.1.5 describe the relationship between the Programme and wider government policy for rural areas. The measures not covered by the Regulation which are likely to contribute to the overall attainment of government's priorities for rural areas, and which are currently operating, are described in detail in Annex III and in regional chapters. Most of these can be expected to continue, subject to appropriate clearance with the European Commission e.g. in respect of competition rules. The new Structural Fund programmes for Objectives 1, 2 and 3 and the new Community Initiative LEADER + will also impact on rural areas. It is not possible, however, to quantify at this stage the extent to which measures operated outwith the Programme will contribute to national priorities, particularly for Objective 2 and LEADER + where programmes have yet to be either approved or submitted.
