The ERDP closed at the end of 2006. The documents below are therefore for reference purposes only. During the programme amendments have been submitted to and approved by the European Commission. Amendments have been incorporated into the relevant sections of the documents on this site. Please note all ERDP the documents available online may make references to MAFF rather than Defra due to their historical nature.
Programme Documents
This section contains links to the full England Rural Development Programme (ERDP), both as a complete document, but also as an archive of the original Programme and its subsequent modifications.
ERDP Summary
This is a more detailed summary of the England Rural Development Programme (ERDP) giving an outline of the national requirements, priorities and targets and the operation of the ERDP schemes. The complete programme is also available (see below), with a chapter for each of the nine regions of England.
ERDP National Document
Formal approval of the England Rural Development Plan was notified in Commission Decision C(2000)3003 of 11 October 2000. The programme consists of 16 sections detailing the national requirements, priorities and targets, the operation of the ERDP schemes, and how the Programme was prepared. 12 annexes to the programme detailing various aspects of the ERDP schemes and operation are also available.
ERDP Regional Chapters
England has been divided into 9 regions for the purposes of the England Rural Development Programme (ERDP). Each region has its own chapter as part of the ERDP, in which specific regional requirements, aims and targets are shown, alongside detailed information on the economic and sociological indicators for that region.

England Rural Development Programme (ERDP) Annual Report to the European Commission
The Rural Development Regulation requires member states to submit annual reports to the European Commission. Reports have now been completed for the calendar years 2000 to 2006.

European Community Council Regulation No. 1257/1999
An unofficial copy of the Council Regulation describing the Rural Development Regulation, which lays down rules for the implementation of national regional development programmes.
European Community Commission Regulation No. 1750/1999
European Community Commission Regulation No. 1750/1999 (Rural Development Regulation) which amended the detailed rules for the implementation of national regional development programmes, has now been replaced by Commission Regulation No. 445/2002 (see below).
