ERDP in Practice: Case Studies and Examples

The England Rural Development Programme enabled a variety of projects around the country. Below are a few of the highlights. You can see a wider range of successful projects arranged by region, or arranged by the ERDP schemes they have benefitted from. The ERDP closed at the end of 2006.  For information on the Rural development Programme for England, which replaces the ERDP, click here.

Manor Farm Shop

Manor Farm Shop

A 40% Rural Enterprise Scheme grant of over £138,550 was awarded to Graeme and Vivienne Matravers of Manor Farm to convert redundant cow byres and Grade ll listed buildings into office accommodation, a new farm shop with meat cutting room and a bakery. The grant has also funded new toilets and washroom facilities on the farm in order to provide a service to visitors to the shop.

Riverford Farm

Riverford Farm runs a vegetable box scheme, providing customers with organically grown vegetables on a weekly basis. To supply the business, farmer Guy Watson buys in vegetables from other local producers as well as using vegetables grown on his own farm.
