Introductory Guide: Options for the diversion of biodegradable municipal from landfill

This document is aimed at a non technical audience, explaining the need and waste management options available to help divert biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) from landfill.

Waste Technology Management Briefs

Each Brief includes an explanation of how each technology works, case studies, a summary of market issues for outputs from the processes, planning and environmental issues in addition to social and economic issues.

Case Studies of Innovative Waste Management schemes in England

Four case studies of innovative municipal waste management schemes are explored in concise profiles. Each includes a summary of the key lessons learned in the development of the scheme, including procurement process, details of technologies, timescales etc. Each case study highlights some potential issues and barriers to the development of municipal waste management projects and how they were overcome in these instances.

Climate change & waste management: the Link

This introductory briefing note explains the causes of climate change and the inter-relationship between waste management processes and the emission of greenhouse gases. The note includes reference to new and established municipal waste management technologies.
