Allocation of landfill allowances to waste disposal authorities

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has allocated landfill allowances to each waste disposal authority in England, persuant to section 4 of the Waste and Emissions Trading Act 2004. The Secretary of State's rationale for this allocation is included in the letter and statement below.

Table A sets out the data which are used in calculating the amount of biodegradable municipal waste send to landfill by each waste diposal authority in 2001/02 and the calculation of the base year figure for each authority.

Table B sets out the allowances allocated to each waste disposal authority for each year of the Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme.
