Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund in England

Objectives

The objectives of the Fund are:

  1. Following the consultation on the future priorities for and delivery of the fund (31 January to 29 April 2008), the five theme s and objectives of the Fund for April 2008 to March 2011 are:

    1. Quarries - To reduce the environmental footprint of quarries and to take advantage of the opportunities they offer.

  2. Marine - To reduce the environmental footprint of marine extraction.

  3. Resource Use - To deliver more sustainable use of aggregates.

  4. Transport - To reduce the environmental footprint of the transport of aggregates.

  5. Communities - To deliver benefits to communities affected by extraction.

Since its inception in 2002 the Fund has supported over 2000 projects across an incredible range, from the purchase of large pieces of machinery to the recycling of demolition waste, from habitat mapping of the eastern English Channel to the upgrading of play areas and village halls in communities affected by quarrying.
