2. THE BASIS FOR OUR CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS (Adobe Acrobat 27kb)

3. THE CONTEXT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE WORKPLACE: OUTCOMES FROM DESK RESEARCH AND CONSULTATION(Adobe Acrobat 56kb)

4. CONCLUSIONS(Adobe Acrobat 43kb)

4.1 There is little market potential for a stand-alone standard and/or award to catalyse education about sustainable development

4.2 Language is a problem that has yet to be fully, or properly, resolved

4.3 There is potential to include ‘sustainability’ and learning/communication criteria within other established initiatives

4.4 Conditions to help ‘stimulate learning’ in the short to medium term need to be created/facilitated

4.5 The Panel can do more to exploit its own position, and levers at its disposal, to contribute to the creation of a more receptive ‘marketplace’

5. RECOMMENDATIONS(Adobe Acrobat 65kb)

5.1 ‘Shine a light’ on what already exists

5.2 Champion the development of a shared knowledge base

5.3 Identify and proactively target intermediaries/organisations who have a clear ‘route to market’ (as ‘educators’/influencers)

5.4 Work with those who measure business performance and impact on business value

5.5 Re-visit the outcomes from the language study (and other work commissioned by the Panel) and consider how these could be used to encourage organisations to engage with sustainable development
