Abandoned Vehicles

The numbers of abandoned vehicles were reported by local authorities to Defra between 2000/01 and 2003/04 in the Municipal Waste Management Survey and from 2004/05 onwards via WasteDataFlow.

Data are collated from local authorities' responses to the question: "How many abandoned vehicles were removed and destroyed by your authority, or your agents?"

Table A: presents regional and national totals which include an estimate for missing values.

Table B: present all authorities with a waste collection responsibility are listed alphabetically with reported numbers. Where the administration of an abandoned vehicles scheme is primarily under the management of the County Council, the figures reported by the County have been used.
