We have grouped together a number of areas where we act to protect environmental quality from pollution – including:

• water quality, water resources and our role in protecting water supplies and regulating the water industry
• protecting air quality, including ozone and fluorinated greenhouse gases
• land and soil – including contaminated land
• local environmental quality – including litter and flytipping – and noise and nuisance
• chemicals, pesticides and nanotechology
• overarching systems for regulating industrial pollution and for environmental permitting
