The Akins Performance Reviews were designed to provide operators, regulators and Defra with a neutral view on Local Authority performance and recommendations were made as a result.
The action plan responding to second Atkins Performance Review (130 KB) for 2005/6 was published 21 March 2007.

Statistical surveys
Our annual statistical survey is a record complied from the statistical returns of approximately 400 local authorities in England and Wales.
The returns reflect all the PPC-related work over the previous year such as income received, the number of applications made, time taken to process those applications, the number of inspections, etc. This information provides valuable input when considering policy decisions.
