Printing Processes (PG6/16(04))

This note corrects an error in PG6/16(04) which unintentionally does not replicate the exemption from certain requirements for listed Cold Set Web Offset and Sheet Set Offset Litho printing processes not covered by the Solvent Emissions Directive.

In particular, SED requirements for VOC emission limits and the solvent reduction scheme do not apply to these two sorts of printing; but the BAT/BATNEEC provisions relating to non-VOC emissions, the determination of solvent consumption, and other matters still do apply.

Table 2 in the published PG6/16(04) is amended in two ways:

• The third row is disapplied for Cold Set Web Offset and Sheet Set Web Offset Litho printing processes
• A new fourth row is inserted for Cold Set Web Offset and Sheet Set Offset Litho printing processes which may emit particulate matter or any VOC and is likely to involve the use in any period of 12 months of 25 tonnes or more of organic solvents.

The amended third row and new fourth row are as follows:-
