Noise and Nuisance - Research Reports

Implications for noise disturbance arising from liberalisation of Licensing Laws

This report was produced for Defra by MCM Research Ltd.

The principal aim of the study was to assess the potential impacts of the proposed Licensing Act on noise disturbance related, directly or indirectly, to the operation of licensed premises. This was to provide a basis for the anticipation of possible noise problems, if any, and proactively indicates appropriate ways of tackling them. Three specific types of noise and nuisance associated with licensed premises were considered: noise breakout from premises, noise from patrons entering and leaving premises and noise disturbance away from licensed premises.
