Grants – European Fisheries Fund
European Maritime and Fisheries Fund
The Commission has published proposals for the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) that will replace the current European Fisheries Fund and will operate from 2014-2020.
The EMFF aims to achieve the objectives of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) reform. The EMFF also now includes Integrated Maritime Policy (i.e. marine spatial planning and integrated coastal zone management) and is structured around four pillars
- Smart, Green Fisheries;
- Smart, Green Aquaculture;
- Sustainable and Inclusive Territorial Development;
- Integrated Maritime Policy.
We are currently considering the proposals and the other implications of all the aspects of the new Fund.

European Fisheries Fund
The European Fisheries Fund (EFF) is the fund for EU fisheries grants operating until December 2013. It replaces the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) grants. The EFF provides grants for the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
UK National Strategic Plan for Fisheries
The UK National Strategic Plan for Fisheries describes the UK fisheries sector and UK objectives and priorities for fisheries between 2007 and 2013. It covers catching, aquaculture, inland fishing, processing and marketing. The UK had to prepare the Plan to demonstrate to the European Commission that it has clear strategic objectives for managing fisheries and on which to base its priorities under the European Fisheries Fund. The plan was formally submitted to the Commission in January 2008.
