- The state of soils in England and Wales: This report covers the main functions of soil and highlights the issues that need to be addressed. It looks at the quality of soil, the pressures acting on it and the impacts that these pressures are having on it.
- Soil: a precious resource
The Environment Agency’s strategy for protecting, managing and restoring soil was published in 2007. It highlights their priorities for soil and the actions they will take.

In response to concerns about the degradation of soils in the EU, the European Commission is currently undertaking work to give soils across the EU greater protection.

NSRI is the leading independent organisation on soil resources in the UK. It conducts research, carries out consultancy and offers a range of scientific services.-
LandIS the ‘Land Information System’ contains a range of soil and soil-related information for England and Wales including spatial mapping, soil datasets and mechanisms to download site-specific soil information.
