Flood and Water Management Bill

Image showing a flood barrier on river edgeThe Flood and Water Management Bill aims to provide better, more sustainable management of flood risk for people, homes and businesses, help safeguard community groups from unaffordable rises in surface water drainage charges and protect water supplies to the consumer.

We have prioritised legislation from the draft Bill in order to achieve these aims in this short Parliamentary Session. Importantly, this Bill will implement recommendations made by Sir Michael Pitt in his review of the 2007 floods. We have already encouraged the early implementation of many of these recommendations, and have made funding available in order to do this.
