Get involved
Defra is committed to working closely with those directly affected by flooding and coastal erosion. There are a number of ways in which you can get involved:
- Consultations: arranged in order to seek views from outside the Department, for example to inform decision-making when a policy is under review.
- Conference: annual Flood and Coastal Management Conference covering a range of interests around the management of river and coastal flood risks and coastal erosion.
- Flood Management Stakeholder Forum: meets quarterly (on average) to inform policy development.
- Suggestions for improvement

In addition, the National Flood Forum is a charity run by people who have experienced flooding first hand which provides support and advice to communities and individuals that have been flooded or are at risk of flooding. It is a collective, authoritative voice that aims to influence central and local government and all agencies that manage flood risk.
