6 April 2008: Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 came into force implementing EPP1.
5 March 2008: second phase of the Environmental Permitting Programme (EPP2) launched. We are currently developing a timeline for EPP2, if our proposals are supported we anticipate regulations coming into force between 2008 and 2011.
Consultations
Consultation on options for transposing the Mining Waste Directive (EU Directive 2006/21/EC) in England and Wales closed on 11 April 2008. (Launched jointly with the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Welsh Assembly Government). The preferred option is to transpose the requirements of the Directive through amended Environmental Permitting Regulations.
