Theme 1: Sustainable Consumption and Production Measurement Methods
Aim
To enable the effective measurement of UK production and consumption environmental impacts to a level that is informative for SCP policy making
Specific aims include:
- Supporting the development of new and existing methods as needed to support effective production and consumption measurement and changing requirements in this area e.g. the current interest in the climate change related impacts of products and services.
- Improving the data sources that measurement methods are based on as follows:-
- Filling in the data gaps in the source data used for production and consumption measurement so they reflect the current situation;
- Disaggregating the level at which sectoral data is available to enable impacts at a product group level to be more accurately understood;
- Adding additional environmental impact indicators to the environmental data held to enable greater impacts to be understood;
- Modelling and forecasting the product-focused improvements possible from policy interventions;
- Updating SCP indicators to effectively measure SCP policy;
- Supporting SCP strategy activities in producing an accessible SCP narrative
