Sustainable consumption and production indicators
One of Defra’s Departmental Strategic Objectives is sustainable, low carbon and resource efficient patterns of consumption and production. The objective is supported by 4 SCP indicators, covering business resource efficiency, the environmental impacts of households, the carbon efficiency of household appliances and the environmental impact of the public sector. These indicators were reported on in the Department’s 2008 Autumn Performance Report.
SCP is also an important element of the Government’s Sustainable Development Strategy, which is supported by a wider range of indicators published annually by the Department. The SCP indicator set reports on trends in emissions, resource use and waste across different sectors of the economy.
