This page summarises the work of the ACRE subgroup on Molecular Data Requirements.

The group first met in April 2001. At their July 2002 meeting ACRE noted that the work of the sub-group was complete. However the committee can reconvene a sub-group in order to revise reports or provide additional guidance documents where appropriate.

Terms of reference

The ACRE subgroup had the following terms of reference:

  • To advise the ACRE on best practice issues which are identified with respect to the deliberate release of genetically modified crops into the environment;
  • The subgroup reported only to ACRE. ACRE monitored the work of the subgroup;
  • The sub-group could consult or seek wider views in the course of its deliberations.

Mode of working

Three meetings were held in 2001. Copies of minutes of neetings held in April and May 2001 are available on request to the ACRE Secretariat. The subgroup had a core membership made up of plant and microbial geneticists. Invited guests provided additional expertise in specific areas.

Publications

ACRE consulted widely on draft guidance and this was finalised and published in 2002.
