Introduction

Welcome to the joint Defra and Environment Agency flood and coastal erosion risk management research and development programme.

The aims of the Joint Programme are to:

  • address the needs of all flood and coastal defence authorities
  • help inform policy development
  • ensure that flood and coastal erosion risk management measures are delivered in a technically and environmentally sound and cost-effective manner
  • bridge the gap between work carried out by others (basic scientific research) and the development of operational systems.

Outputs from our research take the form of research reports and papers to conferences, seminars and scientific journals. For guidance on how to obtain reports, visit our published research page.

Further information about both organisations research programmes may be found by searching the respective Science pages:

Information is also available on how to apply for research funding we have commissioned, or to make a request for research to be undertaken.

Dissemination email notification service

To be notified when new research is published, please email us your contact details and include which research themes you are interested in. We will then send you an e-mail whenever new project outputs are published, giving a link to the individual project page where outputs can be accessed.
