Making Space for Water
Risk Mapping: Flooding from other sources
Project ManagerGeoff Astle (Environment Agency) |
Project CodeHA4a |
TimeframeThe project concluded in November 2006. The final outputs and recommendations are available below. These will now be considered as part of the the Integrated Urban Drainage pilots and the Environment Agency’s Flood Mapping Strategy for 2008-13. |

DescriptionCurrently, flood risk from rivers and the sea are mapped in order to inform the public and other authorities so that they are in better position to manage those risks. On the other hand, very limited information is available on the risk from many other sources of flooding such as groundwater, urban drainage and overland flow. This project has investigated the feasibility to develop our coverage in order to map these additional risks. As part of the project we undertook consultation and pilot studies to examine and review different approaches to assessing and presenting these risks. |
