Overview
IntroductionThe First Government Response to Making space for water indicated that the Environment Agency should adopt a strategic overview of all flood and coastal erosion risk management issues. This will ensure that a holistic approach to risk management is taken and provide a focal point for the public on all sources of flooding.This project is exploring the precise arrangements for that strategic overview examining the different options and where the benefits would lie. This includes reviewing the current legislative and institutional arrangements of how flood and coastal erosion risk management is currently being addressed, and will consider the impacts of Integrated Coastal Zone Management, the Water Framework Directive, Catchment Flood Management Plans and Shoreline Management Plans. This project is split into two sub projects:
