Grant Aided Works Projects

The table below lists Defra grant-aided capital improvement projects to manage flood and coastal erosion risk approved by Defra (rather than the Environment Agency) since 1 April 2003. Related studies are also grant-aided by Defra but are not listed below. Please note that the list is provided for general interest purposes only. Each project listed is entirely the responsibility of the operating authority promoting it - the Environment Agency (EA), local authority (LA) or internal drainage board (IDB). In some cases the authority name is a link to relevant pages on the authority's website or the project name may be a link to further information about the specific project.

For EA projects, please see the EA website. EA projects approved after April 2004 will not be listed here as specific Defra approval will only be required for those projects over set cost thresholds or where Defra's approval as competent authority is required under Habitat Regulations. This is a change consequent upon new Grant in Aid arrangements for the EA implemented as a result of the Government's Flood and Coastal Defence Funding Review. EA projects approved before April 2004 will continue to be listed but their details will not be updated.
