Public Accounts Committee
The Public Accounts Committee is appointed for the examination of the accounts showing the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet the public expenditure, and [since 1934] of such other accounts laid before Parliament as the Committee may think fit. Items of note relating to management of flood and coastal erosion risk in recent years are:
- 2006-07: Fourth Report, Building and maintaining river and coastal flood defences in England or PDF version
and Uncorrected transcript of Oral Evidence given by Environment Agency which followed the National Audit Office report of the same name. - 2001-02: Eighteenth Report: Inland Flood Defence. This followed the National Audit Office Value for Money Report on Inland Flood Defences. The Treasury Minute in response can be obtained from the Office of Public Sector Information (Command Paper number Cm 5512). A debate was held on 29 January 2003 to consider this and other Committee reports for the 2001-02 session. Flooding and coastal erosion however did not feature greatly in it.
