John Mills CBE was formerly Director of Rural Policy at Defra. In a wide-ranging public service and civil service career, other roles included Member of the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit, Director of Consumer Affairs at the Office of Fair Trading, and Chief Executive of Cornwall County Council. John is also currently a non-executive director and vice-chairman of the Port of London Authority (appointed by the Secretary of State), and a Commissioner for the Jersey Financial Services Commission (appointed by the States of Jersey); and undertakes a variety of voluntary and honorary roles mainly in the public policy sphere.
