VLA provides a wide range of applied research and consultancy, diagnosis and surveillance on farm animal diseases to Government, the livestock health industry and private sector.
We are a National and International Reference Laboratory for a wide range of farm animal diseases and have close international links with research institutes and universities.

Avian Influenza
The UK is officially free from avian influenza from today (20 November), according to the rules laid down by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
