VLA is internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in veterinary research.
VLA provides a wide range of applied research and consultancy, diagnostic and surveillance on farm animal diseases to Government, the livestock health industry and private sector.
We are a National and International Reference Laboratory for a wide range of farm animal diseases and have close international links with research institutes and universities.

VLA takes part in "Veterinary science...for all walks of life" - a DVD and booklet launched by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to promote the veterinary profession to school leavers.

Data from the results of VLA's pre-movement testing of livestock is published in Defra's epidemiology report on bluetongue.
