Environmental Impact Guidance

Using these Web-Pages to help you

A good way to check if your policy option has any significant environmental impacts is to think about each of the main aspects of the environment one by one. The 8 questions contained in the Checklist - which are the same questions as in the Cabinet Office RIA guidance - cover all the main areas of the environment.

These web-pages are designed to help you answer each question, by giving you the basics. By clicking on each question in the checklist, or by using the side menu, you can get to information that helps you identify if your policy option will have an impact, whether that impact is significant and where to go to find out more if you need to.

On top of that, they help you understand the relationship of your policy option with existing policy in any particular area of the environment.

These pages are the first draft at helpful guidance. They will be reviewed in two months and examples of completed appraisals added. In you have a view on how they can be improved please do send in feedback.
