| Skills / Experience required |
The competences for this post are:
- Leading and influencing
You will need good presentation and communication skills - particularly the ability to communicate complex ideas simply, clearly and concisely to non-specialists. You will also need to represent Defra positively both in Government and in the wider national and international modelling community.
- Developing high performance
An important part of the post will be coaching and developing colleagues in the use and interpretation of GTAP.
- Collaboration
You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary unit and develop close working relationships with policy customers, stakeholders, other Government Departments and the wider national and international modelling community.
- Thinking with vision
You will need to keep abreast of developments in trade policy and general equilibrium modelling to ensure that model development & scenarios are timely and effective.
- Delivering value for money
You will need to ensure value for money in commissioning research contracts to develop GTAP for Defra purposes and in acquiring appropriate software to get the best out of the model.
- Making things happen
You will need to make effective use of programme and project management in planning modelling work.
