Public appointments
Defra is responsible for a number of Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs). The Chairmen and members of these bodies are appointed in line with the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments. However, in the case of Tribunal NDPBs members are selected and appointed in line with the procedures of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) and appointments are made by the Lord Chancellor.
