Cow in fieldDefra is responsible for the co-ordination of the response to an outbreak of exotic animal disease eg Foot & Mouth Disease, Avian Influenza, Classical Swine Fever etc. at the local and national level, working closely with partners from other government departments, operational partner and stakeholder organisations. Detailed information is set out in Defra’s Contingency Plan for Exotic Animal Diseases.
